LGBT Wedding Styled Shoot at Riverview at Occoquan

A styled shoot with Styled in Pride

I had the opportunity to collaborate with Styled in Pride at its first styled shoot in Virginia back in 2023. Styled in Pride is dedicated to "creating a more LGBTQ inclusive wedding industry by connecting vendors and designing LGBTQ inspired styled shoots". The founder Nick Hanyok started this venture to help LGBT couples find LGBT-inclusive wedding industry vendors when he learned that many of his LGBT friends had trouble finding wedding vendors. I am so honored to be part of the effort in expanding the wedding vendor network to better serve the LGBT community.

The Venue

Located inside Occoquan Park in Lorton, VA 9751 Ox Rd, The River View at Occoquan is a beautiful wedding venue filled with natural light and surrounded by the tranquil Occoquan River and nature. The venue can host up to 400 guests for either an indoor or outdoor wedding.

The standard rental includes 8-hours for The River View, The 1608 Room, ceremony green, rooftop patio. The 1608 Room is a great option for cocktail hours before the reception. One great bonus at The River View at Occoquan is that indoor amplified sound can last until 1am.

The details

I always love discovering the little things couples put into their wedding day details - it's almost like a treasure hunt. The modern and delicate designs on the vow book and wedding invites from CharmCat adds an elegant touch to the setup. Styling mats was provided by Olive and Oak. I also love the custom candle wedding favors provided by Grace + Love Candle CO.

The florals

White wedding bouquets are a classic choice. To add a modern twist, consider a hoop bouquet. These beautiful florals were provided by Rita's Roses.

The Sweetheart Table

A full wedding day can be exhausting, so it's important to be comfortable and replenish energy at the Sweetheart Table during the reception. The table set and dinnerware are provided by Curated Events and meticulously placed by DC event planner Grace & Virtue Events.

The couple

It was a pleasure working with Erica and Jessica, a lesbian couple who rocked their bridal outfits from Lulus's and put up with all of us photographers' directions during the styled shoot. Their makeup and hair were also immaculate thanks to Perry Warren.
