Hannah and Connor’s story already felt cinematic, and it only needed the right setting to come to life. They met at a wedding on New Year’s Eve six years ago when Connor was in grad school and Hannah was spending a year serving with AmeriCorps. For a while their relationship moved from one state to another, because somehow the first five times they met, they ended up in five different states. That pattern continued through a couple years of long distance during a global pandemic until the summer of 2022 when they finally moved to Washington, DC together. Connor proposed last November, and now they are planning a destination wedding in Italy next fall.
Their connection shines most in the little moments, which is why we built their session around some of their favorite Georgetown date spots. We started at La Bonne Vache, a warm and intimate French restaurant that instantly adds a romantic feel. From there we wandered the neighborhood, letting the energy of Georgetown guide the rest of the shoot. One of the best things about this area is how easy it is to photograph as you walk. Hannah and Connor slipped in and out of conversations, shared laughs, and moved naturally through each space. That candid rhythm is what makes date-style sessions so meaningful because the camera becomes secondary to the experience.
We ended at Thomas Sweet Ice Cream Shop where they’ve shared countless casual evenings together. The photos taken through the window while Hannah fed Connor ice cream might be some of my favorites from the day. They are playful, real, and exactly the kind of moments that tell a full love story without needing any direction.
