Why You Should Consider a 2-Hour Engagement Session

Featuring Kasie & Nathan

A 2-hour engagement photo session gives couples the full experience. The extra time allows you to ease into the shoot, get comfortable in front of the camera, and build a natural rhythm with your photographer.

By the second hour, you're relaxed, laughing, and truly in the moment. It’s also the perfect opportunity to weave in something meaningful, like an activity you love doing together. That’s where the magic happens — when it starts to feel less like a photoshoot and more like a date.

This is exactly what happened to Kasie & Nathan. We started off at the National Portrait Gallery, then to the Metro Branch Trail, and we finished at the Bouldering Project.

3 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD HAVE A LONGER ENGAGEMENT PHOTOSHOOT

That’s why I always recommend a longer, 2-hour engagement session. Here’s why:

1) More Time, More Story — A 2-hour session gives us the space to capture all the different layers of your love — the quiet moments, the fun, and everything in between.

2) Multiple Looks + Locations — Want variety? Plan ahead. Start with your most formal outfit, then change into something more relaxed. Think ahead about parking and transportation so we can flow smoothly between spots.

3) Speak Up! — If there’s a vision you’ve been dreaming about, say it. This is your story. Whether it's recreating your first date or trying a fun concept, we’ll make it happen — and the extra time makes room for creativity.

Closing Thoughts

Generally, for a 2-hour engagement photoshoot, you can have 2-3 looks, and shoot in 1-2 or in Kasie & Nathan’s case, 3 different locations. This time slot really yields a lot of options for you, and most couples are perfectly served by this time slot. So if you're dreaming of a session that feels effortless, meaningful, and uniquely you — two hours might be exactly what your love story needs.
