U.S. Capitol grounds is perfect for elopement

For those looking for an iconic backdrop to their wedding or elopement portrait, the U.S. Capitol and surrounding area is one of my favorite location. The reason being: there are multiple gorgeous historic landmarks right by each other (U.S. Capitol, Supreme Court, and Library of Congress). It's also not as touristy as the other side of the National Mall near the museums.

D&B had their elopement on the Capitol grounds and celebrated with loved ones in Navy Yard after. Looking back at the day, it was just so stunning! I loved the modern look of tea length wedding dress set against Neoclassical architecture. Most of all, I loved being near D&B's infectious laughter and positive energy.

Thompson Hotel Navy Yard Washington DC Rooftop Wedding

Rooftop reception for wedding celebration

Did you know that the Thompson Hotel (Hyatt) in Navy Yard has a cocktail room and rooftop that can host up to 75 guests? I didn't know about it either until D&B's reception. I think it's the perfect size and location for a more intimate gathering while enjoying sparkling city views. Check out the Thompson Hotel here.
